Descrizione breve
The new chapter of the series dedicated to the presence of Murano glass at the Biennale examines the period between 1932 and 1942.
Descrizione lunga

The Glass Rooms will host from April 13 to November 23, 2025, the exhibition 1932-1942 Murano Glass and the Venice Biennale, curated by Marino Barovier.

The exhibition examines the period between 1932 and 1942, which corresponds respectively to the inauguration of the Venice Pavilion and the last edition of the Biennale before the interruption caused by World War II.

Starting in 1932, Murano glass was present at the Biennale in a dedicated space built specifically to showcase decorative arts at the initiative of the Veneto Institute for Labor. This officially recognized the value and quality of the so-called minor arts, which were selected for display to the general public during the exhibition.
Thanks to the constant renewal of the event, Murano furnaces had the opportunity to present themselves each time with their best production, knowing how to seize the stimuli the Biennale offered them.

The Biennale, in fact, did not merely serve as a privileged showcase but, with its artistic fervor and international scope, became a fruitful opportunity for comparison for glassworks and the world of artistic glass in general.
