The Olympic Theatre in Vicenza, a Palladian architectural jewel and UNESCO heritage site, is preparing to host the 79th Cycle of Classical Performances schedule in the Veneto city from September 13 to October 18. This edition renews the dialogue between the great texts of tradition and the contemporary scene through new productions and world premieres, under the artistic direction of Stivalaccio Teatro.
The cycle is divided into four project lines: Skēnē – The great international stage, Polis – Territorial projects, Technē – The art of making and Agorà – The space for discussion.
The heart of the program, summed up by the Greek word Skēnē, consists of a lineup of performances that bring to Vicenza some of the most significant experiences of contemporary Italian and international theater and dance with seven events.
Alongside the performances, the second project line is dedicated to local artists and is significantly marked by the title Polis. The open and dialogic architecture of the Palladian Basilica becomes a meeting point and a space for sharing around classical myths.
A section of the project is dedicated to training and the transmission of theatrical knowledge (Technē), aimed at both professionals and the public.
It couldn't miss the Agorà, a central element of classical culture expressed in a series of moments for in-depth exploration and dialogue with the public.
