The composer, producer, and guitarist Isaac de Martin / IKE meets the masters of Indian classical music Deobrat Mishra on sitar and Prashant Mishra on tabla.
An encounter between Banaras Gharana, jazz, electronics, and improvisation, where electric guitar, sitar, tabla, synthesizers, flute, and drums create evocative and uncharted soundscapes.
IKE, trained in classical guitar, jazz, and electronic production, has been developing a musical research open to different cultures and languages for years.
The collaboration with the two Mishras arises in the journey towards "Tabuterra," his fourth album set to be released in 2027 by the London-based Wah Wah 45s.
Deobrat Mishra, the eleventh generation of the prestigious Benares school and son of the legendary sitar master Pandit Shivnath Mishra, is one of the most important contemporary sitar and surbahar performers. His research combines the tradition of the Banaras Gharana with a personal exploration of contaminations.
Prashant Mishra, belonging to a historic musical family from Benares, is a tabla performer trained in the tradition of the Banaras Gharana. He has played in India and at major international festivals.
The concert will be preceded by the introduction "Listening to Sound: Rāga, rasa, and the philosophy of musical experience in India," curated by Indologist Giulia Buriola Meneghin and Yoga Integrated Method.
The concert setup is entrusted to Officina Calligrafica.
