Guided tour of the walled city.
Every third Sunday of the month, except for July and August, a guided tour will depart from the Montagnana Tourist Office where, with a licensed tour guide from the Murabilia Association, you can discover the most suggestive aspects of one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy and the best preserved in Europe.
The route will touch upon the Castle of San Zeno, the oldest heart of the city, then descend into the ditch, once a water moat protecting the city and now a green meadow, for a stop that will include the illustration of Villa Pisani-Placco, designed by Andrea Palladio. The walk will continue along the 14th-century city walls, commissioned by the Carraresi and beautifully preserved, until reaching the Rocca degli Alberi, where the fortification works were completed in 1362.
We will then head towards the final stops of the route, illustrating churches and palaces built during the Venetian rule, and we will reach Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, surrounded by noble palaces. The guided tour will conclude with an explanation of the Cathedral of S. Maria Assunta, which houses works by Paolo Veronese, Giorgione, Buonconsiglio (the visit will also take place internally, if no religious celebrations are ongoing).
