The oldest surviving civic building in the city is ready to open its doors to the public, following an important restoration work.
The Tower of the Elders will be open to the public from the morning of Wednesday, December 10, visitable by everyone for the first time in its history, after a delicate and complex restoration lasting over a year.
From its summit, at 47 meters above street level, it is possible to enjoy a magnificent 360-degree view of the entire city, a view that on clear days extends to the Prealps to the north and the Euganean Hills to the southwest.
Access to the top of the tower will be possible via the 190 steps of the new staircase built inside to replace the old wooden structure, which was now dangerous and dating back to the late 18th century. Visitors, a maximum of twenty at a time, will enter the multimedia room located at the base of the Tower in the rooms that once housed the minority groups office, equipped with chairs and a large screen on which to watch an introductory video that, in simple language accompanied by spectacular images, tells the story of the Tower and explains the phases of its restoration. After the video, visitors will proceed to the top of the Tower where they can stay for about 15 minutes.
