Biennale Teatro 2026

The 54th International Theater Festival will take place from June 7 to June 21, 2026, under the direction of Willem Dafoe: featuring performances and meetings with the most important figures in contemporary theater, as well as productions created within the Biennale College Theater framework, the training project dedicated to young artists. Willem Dafoe began his artistic journey at 19 with Theatre X (1975-1977), one of the first research formations in the USA. In Europe, where he was in '76, he was at the legendary Mickery Theatre in Amsterdam, a hub of the international alternative scene. In 1977 in New York, he co-founded the formation The Wooster Group, with which he performed until 2003.
