Descrizione lunga

Ten years after the passing of Franco Fiabane, the Civic Museum of Belluno hosts a major retrospective exhibition dedicated to the work of one of the most significant sculptors of the late 20th century Veneto, set up in the rooms of Palazzo Fulcis from October 11, 2025, to January 11, 2026.

The exhibition path, which presents over 180 works, traces more than 50 years of activity: from the first experiences in the workshop to the grand international exhibitions, passing through the numerous public works scattered throughout the province. An opportunity to rediscover the value and artistic legacy of Franco Fiabane, who with his work has left a profound mark on the Belluno community and beyond.

Symbolically anticipating the opening of the exhibition, one of the most monumental and representative works of the artist has been exceptionally placed in the heart of the city: The Muses, created in 1995 from Nanto stone, now welcomes passersby under the portico of Palazzo dei Rettori, the seat of the Prefecture. The work, belonging to the Fiabane Collection and previously kept in the sculptor's private residence, is presented for the first time in a public space, thus restoring its original vocation as civic art.

Composed of nine figures, The Muses represent the quintessential inspirers, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, inspirers and protectors of every form of art, embodying in Fiabane's vision a powerful synthesis between classical roots and contemporary research, presenting the public with a work that is both solemn and intensely poetic.
