On January 5th, Cavallino offers one of the most characteristic events of the Epiphany period: Pan e Vin sull’acqua, scheduled for 6:00 PM in Piazza Cavallino. The event revives the Venetian tradition of “brusar la vecia,” an ancient rite that involved burning a large straw effigy as a symbol of the past year. The direction of the smoke and the height of the flames were interpreted as signs of good fortune for the months to come, transforming the bonfire into a true moment of observation and anticipation.
The uniqueness of the event in Cavallino lies in the chosen setting: the bonfire is set up in the Lagoon, creating a unique atmosphere thanks to the reflections on the water and the light of the fire in the winter landscape. The initiative is curated by the Amici del Paviner, who have been keeping this local tradition alive for years.
During the evening, the befane will also be present, ready to distribute classic stockings to the little ones, while a small refreshment will accompany the audience. An event that allows you to experience tradition in a particularly enchanting setting, in the heart of Cavallino.
