From the rocky landscapes of the Dolomites to the flat landscapes of the Venetian Lagoon, the scenery that you will see during this evocative itinerary changes gently from day to day.
Starting from Cortina d'Ampezzo, the pearl of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, the cycle path is built on a former railway, between woods and peaks, in an easy descent passing through the mountain villages of Cadore, and then following the Piave river towards Belluno you will reach Lake Santa Croce.
After the Fadalto Pass, the trail descends to Vittorio Veneto, towards the rolling hills where Prosecco DOCG is produced. Once you have resumed the equipped cycle path (signage with code I4), you will visit Conegliano with its beautiful medieval castle, then you will cross the Piave river and turn around the Montello until you reach Treviso, a cultural centre with invaluable architectural wonders.
The final stage is first along the Sile river cycle path and then on light-traffic roads to Mestre - Venice.
We recommend you to take a week to enjoy the many natural and artistic beauties of these territories. The north-south route does not involve any particularly taxing climbs. Beware of some heavy traffic for short distances when approaching cities. The dirt bike paths in the woods and along the Sile river are truly enjoyable.
Signage with code I2.
