A really pleasurable route is the Land of the Prosecco, in the Treviso area, among the rolling hills covered in vineyards, to the discovery of small villages. Our journey starts in Cison di Valmarino: here a walk in the beautiful historic centre is a must, dominated by the beautiful Castelbrando, the medieval castle which stands on the Col de Moi. We continue towards Valdobbiadene, the name of which is inextricably linked to Prosecco, DOCG wine produced only in Treviso, to be visited also for the eighteenth century Church that hosts works of Palma il Giovane and Paris Bordon. The next stop is Possagno, a city that gave birth to Antonio Canova, to arrive here we cross some characteristic villages such as Follina and Combai. In Possagno we can visit the Tempio, a church designed by Canova modelled on the Roman Pantheon and the Gipsoteca, a collection of works of great sculptures. The journey continues to Asolo, a village that still retains medieval walls and the castle, the place of exile of the Queen Caterina Cornaro and that today hosts a theatre dedicated to Eleonora Duse.
The next stop is Maser, another location linked to the great artist Andrea Palladio, whose amazing Villa Barbaro has been declared a World Heritage building by UNESCO.
At this point, we cross Montello, a hill rising to the south of the river Piave through Nervesa della Battaglia, the scene of violent clashes during the First World War. We then continue until we arrive in Conegliano, our last stop.
The region offers a succession of wine cellars providing guided tastings of the excellent local wines.
