Walking through the stories of Antonio Fogazzaro
This is the first long journey devised by the Cammini Veneti Association, the result of the passion of a group of volunteers to enhance the territory through slow tourism and tell the story of Veneto's most authentic roots.
The route connects Montegalda to Tonezza del Cimone, crossing the places loved and narrated by Vicenza-born author Antonio Fogazzaro, and made famous in the world also by his great-grandson, the Marquis Giuseppe Roi, a refined cultural promoter of the Venetian landscape.
As you walk, you will come across Venetian villas of extraordinary elegance, charming villages, literary perspectives and panoramas that look like paintings. The journey is an invitation to experience beauty slowly, accompanied by the words and spirit of those who have made these places a source of inspiration.
The path alternates destinations of art and culture with unspoilt natural landscapes: the walk leads along dirt tracks, paths between springs, river banks and streams, up to the final climb to the Tonezza del Cimone plateau, sunny and panoramic, perfect for a regeneration of body and spirit.
Not-to-be-missed stops along the way: Villa Fogazzaro-Roi (now Colbachini) in Montegalda, the writer's historic home; the village of Costozza, with its refined villas surrounded by greenery; the iconic Villa Capra "La Rotonda" and Villa Valmarana ai Nani in Vicenza; the historic centre of Vicenza, a UNESCO heritage site; Villa Valmarana Ciscato, Villa Velo and Villa La Montanina in Velo d'Astico.
