A weekend full of history and mith
Every year, in September, the walled city of Montagnana returns to the Middle Ages and comes alive with knights and ladies, artisans and commoners, all gathered to watch the exciting horse race that sees the 10 Municipalities of ancient Scodosia challenge one other on the grassy meadow that surrounds the walls.
On Saturday 5 September, the medieval market and the animation of flag-wavers, jesters and jugglers will enliven the square from the morning, followed by the exciting Tenzone degli Arceri in the moat right outside Porta Padova from 4.30 pm to 6 pm. At 10 pm, the Rocca degli Alberi moat will host the equestrian fire show carried out by knights, followed by the spectacular fire of the fortress.
On Sunday 6 September, the medieval market will be active in the historic center from 9 am, with ancient crafts, flag-wavers, jesters, jugglers and various shows. Afterwards, you can watch the historical parade that will cross the streets of the center from 4 pm and, from 5 pm, the exciting Corsa del Palio held between the 10 municipalities, preceded by the Corsa dei Gonfaloni and the performance of musicians and flag-wavers.
