The GiraSile cycle path runs along the banks of the longest spring-fed river in Europe in one of the most appealing stretches of the Regional Natural Park. In this area, the relationship between man and river is a constant dialogue between modernity and tradition, between natural areas and cultivated environments, between river landscapes and Venetian villas.
The itinerary starts from the historic centre of Treviso and passes through the coastal centres of Casier, Lughignano and Casale sul Sile. Once past Quarto d 'Altino, an archaeological city, it runs along the northern lagoon of Venice to the beaches of Jesolo and Cavallino Treporti. The route therefore offers numerous experiences: from discovering a city of art to arriving at seaside resorts. The landscape changes every hour: at first, the surrounding environment is restricted to residential and manufacturing areas, then it opens into a finely cultivated countryside before eventually embracing the open and vast spaces of the Venice Lagoon.
Not to be missed: a visit to the Burci Cemetery, where the imposing boats used for commercial transport of goods are sunk; a food and wine stop at delightful villages to discover the atmosphere, flavours and aromas of the Marca Trevigiana; a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Altino, to learn about the origin of Venice; and finally, a stop at the beach resorts of Jesolo and Cavallino Treporti.
The route always follows the embankment and is almost entirely on a cycle path with mainly dirt roads. The route is easy and safe, also suitable for families with children.
