ARTISTS AT THE BIENNALES

The Eastern Venice Tourist District renews the traditional appointment with major exhibitions at the Bishop's Palace in Portogruaro

The Venice Biennale has represented, since 1895, one of the highest expressions of international art, born from the example of the great French Salons of the 19th century.

Thanks to the insights of Nino Barbantini, director of the Cà Pesaro museum, Venice inaugurates an extraordinary artistic season, becoming a reference point and showcase for innovation on a national and international level.

The exhibition, curated by Stefano Cecchetto, aims to retrace the first fifty years of the Biennale through some protagonists who, with their work, have contributed to marking a path of renewal in the visual arts.

Divided into thematic rooms, the exhibition set up at the Bishop's Palace highlights affinities and differences between the various pictorial languages that, between the end of the 19th century and the middle of the 20th century, paved the way for new disciplines and restored to Venice and Veneto the historical role of an international crossroads of art.

The journey, composed of about seventy works, is divided into three sections: the first entitled Emblems of New Vedutism, Venice and the School of Burano, after the legacy of Canaletto and Guardi, the Venetian landscape renews itself between the 19th and 20th centuries with masters such as Ciardi, Tito, Nono, Milesi, and Fragiacomo.
