The Carnival of Casale di Scodosia is mentioned for the first time in a document dating back to the 1920s, and is described as a popular festival, featuring costumes, parades of floats pulled by animals, music, and folk games. Its formula, while transforming and evolving over time, has remained almost unchanged in its popular and playful spirit and has been repeated, after a pause due to World War II, from 1949 to the present day.
The parades of allegorical floats are scheduled for Sunday, February 8 and 15, with various shows to frame the events: majorette bands, musicians and flag-wavers, Brazilian dances, and musical bands. There will also be an indoor tasting area to enjoy local products; additionally, the event space will host a market and a large amusement park, as well as a photo exhibition and a charity raffle.
Tuesday, February 17 will instead be dedicated to the Children's Carnival, with the show "Jack and the Mystery of the Golden Mask" and the contest "The Little Mask." The graphic-painting and poetry contests on the theme of the carnival will also be awarded. Stalls and an amusement park will be present on this day as well.
