On Monday, January 26, 2026, exactly 70 years since the arrival of the Torch that kicked off the 1956 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Flame returns to Cortina d'Ampezzo. An event of great symbolic value that joins memory and future, celebrating the Olympic values of unity, peace, hope, and community, on the path to Milano Cortina 2026.
The relay will pass through the symbolic places of Ampezzo sports, reconstructing the Olympic heart of the city: departure at 3:50 PM from Pian da Lago, passing through Zuel and under the 1956 Italia Jump, ascension to Socrepes, and via cable car, arrival on the Olympia piste of the Tofane, with the descent of a torchbearer accompanied by Kristian Ghedina and 30 ski instructors. The route will continue towards Ronco, the Sliding Centre, the Ice Stadium, and the city center, until the final arrival in Largo delle Poste.
From 5:00 PM, Largo delle Poste will host a large celebration open to the whole community, with a big screen, music, shows, speeches from the stage, and activities for children. At 5:30 PM, there will be a celebratory moment by the Municipality in homage to the 1956 Olympics, accompanied by the Banda Musicale di Cortina.
The arrival of the last torchbearer is expected around 7:00 PM, followed by the lighting of the brazier at 7:30 PM. The Flame will then be kept at the Municipality until the Opening Ceremony on February 6.
The Mayor Gianluca Lorenzi invites citizens and guests to participate: “It will be a community celebration and an emotion that links Cortina's history to its Olympic future.”
A date to be lived together.
