Carnevalon de l’Alpon returns from February 12 to 17: it is a historic carnival that has been attracting thousands of visitors for almost eighty years, transforming Monteforte d’Alpone into the capital of satire, creativity, and conviviality.
Famous for its grand allegorical floats, the pranks on neighboring towns, and sharp political satire, the Carnevalon involves both young and old in a true collective celebration, where the audience is not just a passive spectator but an active protagonist of the festivities.
Leading all initiatives will be the Queen of the Torbolin, accompanied by the historical masks of the Prince of Gnoco and Sior Carnevalon.
Officially born in 1949, Carnevalon de l’Alpon has its roots in the late nineteenth century. Its fame as a "witty and whimsical" carnival solidified in the early twentieth century thanks to a strong satirical and irreverent imprint.
After World War II, the Carnevalon is reborn with renewed energy, gaining popularity throughout the province of Verona thanks to increasingly spectacular floats made by the papier-mâché masters of Monteforte.
