“Montecchio Medievale – La Faida” is a historical and theatrical reenactment that takes place annually in Montecchio Maggiore (VI), inspired by the historical and literary connection of the territory with the myth of Juliet and Romeo.
Reaching its XXV edition in 2026, the event represents a significant regional identity gathering, capable of actively involving the local community, volunteers, performers, and young interpreters, enhancing the historical, cultural, and landscape heritage of the castles of Villa and Bellaguardia and the town center.
The event spans multiple days and integrates theatrical performances, historical reenactments, cultural dissemination, and collective participation. On April 30, an evening theatrical performance directed by Pino Costalunga is scheduled in Piazza Marconi, retracing the central moments of the tragedy of the Capulets and Montagues. On May 1, the castles and surrounding areas come alive with historical reenactments, traveling shows, guided tours, family activities, and the election of Juliet and Romeo.
Since 2023, the event has been included in the official mapping of historical reenactments by the Central Institute for Immaterial Heritage of the Ministry of Culture. “Montecchio Medievale – La Faida” is not just a historical reenactment, but a cultural experience that brings together tradition, performance, and reflection on always relevant themes, such as peace and the value of reconciliation.
