We invite you to visit Cittadella, a beautiful walled town of medieval origin located just a few kilometers from important artistic centers such as Padua, Vicenza, Treviso, and part of the broader historical context of other walled cities in Veneto such as Bassano del Grappa, Marostica, Asolo, and Castelfranco Veneto. The foundation of the town dates back to 1220 when the municipality of Padua decided to create anew in the central sector of the Veneto plain a fortified place to protect the border areas of its territory against the cities of Treviso and Vicenza.
Cittadella is the only walled city in all of Europe to have a medieval walkway, elliptical in shape and fully accessible. The walls can be explored with a panoramic walk at a height of 15 meters, a unique experience of “Walking in History”.
