Sunday, March 22 marks the return of one of the most anticipated sporting events of the Riviera del Brenta: the XXIX edition of the Dogi’s Half Marathon.
The route winds through four municipalities along the Riviera del Brenta, halfway between Padua and Venice. Starting and finishing points change every year, giving participants the feeling of running on a constantly different course. An international event that attracts athletes from all over Italy and abroad each year, enhancing the territory and offering a showcase of sport, nature, and culture along the Naviglio Brenta.
The route begins at 9:15 am in Fiesso along the SS 11 towards Venice until Mira, where it will cross the opposite bank, arriving in Stra before returning along the SS 11 back to Fiesso, with an expected finish time of 12:15 pm.
The Dogi’s Half Marathon is not only characterized by one of the fastest routes in the panorama of Italian Half Marathons, but it also takes place in a context of high historical and landscape value. The area is marked by the presence of numerous villas built by Venetian patrician families during the period of the Serenissima Republic, between the 16th and 18th centuries.
The Riviera del Brenta, the stage for the event, stretches along the banks of the Naviglio del Brenta, which is the ancient natural bed of the Brenta River: it diverges from it at the height of Stra and, flowing from west to east, empties into the lagoon of Venice. The route of the Dogi’s Half Marathon provides the opportunity to gaze upon 26 villas and the monumental squero of Dolo.
The route prepared for the participants is never trivial. You will not feel alone traversing long and dull straight stretches.
You will cross five municipalities. In each, there’s something to see, and the warmth of the crowd will accompany you to the finish line.
The historical and organizational context of the Dogi’s Half Marathon will allow you to experience a day of sport with the best performance satisfactions, the best emotions, and the most beautiful sensations!
