Located in Palazzo Camerini Bembo in the historic centre of Padua, the Third Army History Museum a place that weaves the city's history with that of the Great War. The palace, dating back to the 14th century, was home to important families and enjoyed its most illustrious period in the 16th century with Cardinal Pietro Bembo, a central figure in Renaissance culture and the codification of literary Italian.
After becoming municipal property in the twentieth century, the building hosted the designated Command of the Third Army after the war, leading, on 30 August 1956, to the opening of the Museum at the behest of General Alberto Aliberti and thanks to the donations of General Nino Villa.
The exhibition tells the story of "the Invincible Third Army", key player in all phases of the First World War on the Italian front, from the battles of the Isonzo to the defence of the Piave, through to the final victory.
The Museum preserves memorabilia, documents, original photographs, military maps, trench newspapers and multimedia materials, offering an in-depth and engaging insight into the conflict. Of particular importance are the artistic and documentary collections that share the memories of the combatants and veterans.
