Designer lace

The exhibition dedicated to designer lace, with a focus on the 1920s and 1930s, opens at the Burano Lace Museum.

A journey through an extraordinary creative period, featuring works by artists and designers such as Giulio Rosso, Fausto Melotti, Vittorio Zecchin, Giovanni Gariboldi and Tomaso Buzzi, accompanied by preparatory sketches, cartoons and period publications, retracing the rise of designer lace as a genuine artistic expression. A special section is dedicated to the 1931 international exhibition in Amsterdam, one of the first occasions on which Italian lace established itself abroad alongside Murano ceramics and glassware.

The exhibition, organised as part of the fifth Biennale del Merletto, is dedicated to the memory of Doretta Davanzo Poli, one of the most authoritative scholars of Italian lace.
