The annual appointment with “Scargar Malga” returns, the historic festival of transhumance that will transform the center of Gallio into a lively stage of mountain traditions, authentic flavors, and shared moments. The event, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, is promoted by the association Le Terre Alte APS in collaboration with the Municipality of Gallio and the spectacular setting of the Plateau of the 7 Municipalities.
The day will offer a rich program of outdoor activities for families, mountain enthusiasts, and food and wine lovers:
- Giardini Square from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Opening of the Earth Market, where it will be possible to meet local producers from the Seven Municipalities, purchase zero-kilometer excellence, and taste local products directly in the tasting area.
- Transhumance in the center (around 12:00 p.m.): Climax of the morning with the spectacular passage of the herd from Malga Busafonda along the streets of Gallio.
- Culture and memory (1:00 p.m.): Ceremony for handing out awards to the herders and screening of the documentary “Capindo la late”, dedicated to the roots of mountain farming.
- Afternoon of joy (2:30 p.m.): Fun walk through the streets of the village in the company of goats.
Experience transhumance as a protagonist For those who desire a truly immersive experience, it is possible to accompany the herd on foot along the return path. The program includes departure by bus at 9:00 a.m. from the Ghelpach parking lot towards Malga Busafonda to discover closely the stories of herding life, with the walk alongside the cows starting around 11:00 a.m. and arrival in Gallio for a "Cimbrian snack" dedicated to participants.
