From the depths of an ancient tropical sea to the legendary peaks that now outline the horizon of the Dolomites: the traveling exhibition Dolomites: Walking Through the Geology of Wonder invites the public to embark on an extraordinary journey through time, discovering the origins and transformations that have shaped one of the planet's most iconic landscapes.
Hosted from June 23 to August 31, 2026 at the Rinaldo Zardini Paleontological Museum, the exhibition guides visitors of all ages through 270 million years of Earth's history, revealing the secrets of rocks, fossils, and the natural forces that have shaped towering cliffs, spires, towers, and spectacular valleys.
Inspired by the Dolomites World Heritage Geotrail and promoted by the Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, the exhibition combines scientific rigor with great evocative power through breathtaking images, paleoenvironmental reconstructions, illustrations and accessible content that transform geology into an engaging and surprising narrative.
The experience can be enriched by visiting the Zardini Museum and its extraordinary collection of over 20,000 fossil specimens belonging to around 1,000 species, unique testimonies of the ancient sea from which the Dolomites emerged.
The inauguration is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. An unmissable opportunity to view the mountains with new eyes and understand how time, nature, and wonder have written the history of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
