On Saturday, July 4, Cortina comes alive with the Sestieri Kiosk from 4:00 p.m. and a concert by Party a 90 starting at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday, July 5: the Sagra d'Ampezzo.
Starting from the early hours of the morning, the historic center is animated by colors, aromas, and encounters. The streets of the village transform into a lively path through stalls, craftsmanship, typical products, and curiosities, while residents and visitors share the same festive atmosphere that has represented one of the most heartfelt events of the Ampezzana summer for decades.
But the real show arrives in the afternoon.
The six historic Sestieri d'Ampezzo — Alverà, Azzon, Cadin, Chiave, Cortina, and Zuel — come out to compete for the prestigious summer Palio, a tradition that continues to preserve the identity and sense of belonging of the local community.
The tension rises during the Palio di corsa, where women, men, and children race for the colors of their sestiere. The adrenaline explodes in the tiro alla fune, while the audience holds its breath in front of the spectacular log cutting competition, a challenge that recalls the ancient forest traditions of the valley and that still today represents one of the most anticipated moments of the event.
It is a journey into the identity of the Dolomites. A rare opportunity to see Cortina through the eyes of those who live it every day, amidst stories, Ladin traditions, community spirit, and a passion that transcends generations.
