There are signs that reveal much more than meets the eye. The tunnels carved by the European spruce bark beetle beneath the bark of the fir trees stand as silent testimony to an ecosystem profoundly transformed by the effects of Storm Vaia and climate change.
From these traces springs ‘Silenziose Trame’ (Silent Weaves), an exhibition by the artist Silvia Canton now on display at Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, transforming a natural phenomenon into a powerful visual narrative capable of moving and provoking reflection.
The bark collected in the forests of the Dolomites, destined to decay, is salvaged, preserved and reinterpreted through a refined artistic language that breathes new life and meaning into it.
The exhibition itinerary weaves together contemporary art, scientific research and public outreach, guiding visitors on a journey of discovery into one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time, thanks to contributions from the University of Padua, scholars and popularisers, as well as images and multimedia content.
An immersive experience that invites visitors to observe the landscape with fresh eyes and to reflect on the relationship between humankind and nature, set against the extraordinary backdrop of the Lagazuoi Expo Dolomiti, at an altitude of 2,732 metres, where culture, research and beauty converge in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
