Vittorio Sgarbi reveals the eternal mountain through the eyes of the greatest masters of art
Descrizione lunga

The mountain is not just a place to traverse. It is a dimension of the soul, a meeting between man and the eternal.

In a unique appointment in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Vittorio Sgarbi, following in the footsteps of René de Chateaubriand, guides the audience on an extraordinary journey through over seven centuries of art history, narrating how peaks, alpine landscapes, and the power of nature have inspired the greatest masters.

From Giotto, the first interpreter of the mountain in Western painting, to the landscapes of Mantegna and Bellini; from the suspended atmospheres of Dürer to the romantic scenes of Friedrich and Turner; from the visions of Van Gogh and Munch to the modern interpretations of Buzzati, Mus, and Mušič: a path between famous masterpieces and surprising discoveries.

Through painting, photography, and the culture of the highlands, Sgarbi tells a universal story: that of a silent dialogue between the fragility of man and the greatness of the mountain.

Because, as Sgarbi writes, “nothing is closer to the eternal than the mountain”.

An encounter between art and nature.
A journey toward the sky that is closest.
