Organs are exceptional instruments in terms of craftsmanship, beauty, and art, for their sonic output as well as their economic value; instruments that cannot be overlooked and left in silence, as it impacts their expressive capacity and integrity. The crisis facing our churches subordinates these precious instruments, which are considered secondary in the current liturgy. Our goal is to raise awareness among communities of their heritage and artistic value and to ensure their proper preservation.
The Festival was born in 2022 from a collaboration between the Friends of the Archives Association of Vicenza and Bassano del Grappa and Asolo Musica. We are now at the 4th edition, and the program is packed, with ten concerts in as many churches spanning the territory from the Astico to the Piave. We have the sponsorship of all interested municipalities, District Rotary 2060, which includes the three regions of the Northeast, the dioceses of Vicenza, Padua, and Treviso, the Veneto Region, and the Ministry of Culture.
The Festival encompasses the vast foothill territory of Vicenza and Treviso. Many churches take pride in preserving and enhancing historic organs of great value.
From this fourth edition of the Festival, we will launch a project to catalog the historic organs of great value in the territory.
