From September 1st to 30th 2026, the stunning setting of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore will host the fourth edition of Homo Faber 2026, the prestigious international exhibition dedicated to excellence in contemporary craftsmanship.
This year’s theme, “An Island of Light”, invites visitors on a fascinating sensory journey exploring the profound relationship between light, materials, and the human hand. Curated by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship and artistically directed by renowned British artist and designer Es Devlin, the 2026 edition will transform the Foundation’s historic spaces into an immersive experience of spectacular installations, reflections, movement, and creativity.
Inspired by the archipelago of the Venetian lagoon, Es Devlin has created a narrative that brings together hundreds of master artisans from around the world: each artist becomes an island of talent within a vast universe of knowledge, tradition, and innovation. Through the use of light, water, mirrors, and dynamic scenography, the exhibition highlights the work of artisans, their workshops, tools, and the materials that give life to extraordinary creations.
Visitors will enjoy an engaging experience featuring 15 immersive installations, live demonstrations, participatory workshops, guided tours, and culinary experiences, offering a unique opportunity to connect directly with the world of exceptional craftsmanship and the stories behind its creators.
