The Villa Pisani of Montagnana takes its name from Francesco Pisani, a Venetian aristocrat, who commissioned the renowned Andrea Palladio to design his residence just outside the medieval walls that enclose the city. Since its completion in 1555, this palace has never ceased to be inhabited, and the Placco family, who purchased it towards the end of the 19th century, still owns it and continues to reside there.
As it is a private residence, the villa is usually closed to the public, except for some rare and precious occasions when the owner himself will guide visitors to discover the history and architecture of the villa.
The first date, Sunday, April 19, is scheduled as part of the UNESCO days, of which the villa is a part. There are also two days included in the cultural offerings of the ham festival, Saturday, May 17 and Saturday, May 23, and it ends with two autumn dates, Sunday, September 13 and Sunday, October 4, the latter coinciding with the Montagnanese fair.
Given the exceptional nature of the event, reservation is required, until seats are filled.
The entrance ticket is €10.00 per person, and the meeting point is at the I.A.T. Tourist Office, in Castel San Zeno, from where the group will be accompanied to the villa, located a short distance away.
