Hosted in the complex of Villa Correr Pisani in Montebelluna, the MeVe – Veneto Memorial of the Great War is an interactive and multimedia space dedicated to the conflicts and events that have marked the last century of our history, starting from World War I.
In its approximately 2,300 square meters of exhibition, the path offers a different way of looking at the twentieth century: not only through battles and dates but by relating war, society, technology, landscapes, and the women and men who were its protagonists. The goal is to understand what happened and to question how much of those transformations has reached the present.
The displayed objects are few and highly symbolic. The experience is mainly built through immersive installations, videos, documents, sounds, and digital content, with environments such as the bombing room, the audio library, and the flight simulator.
The venue is also part of the story: during World War I Villa Correr Pisani hosted a field hospital, directly entering into the history that the Memorial today helps to narrate.
The MeVe is also a place of civic education, research, and dissemination, with activities dedicated to schools, families, and the public of all ages. Rather than celebrating war, it invites people to understand its consequences and transformations to reflect on memory, citizenship, and peace.
