For fans of moto-tourism the mountain routes can be incredibly satisfying, with the mountain roads and hairpin bends which enhance the pleasure of the rider and the stunning landscapes which open up unexpectedly, letting you enjoy a sense of peace and freedom.
The route of the Pedemontana of Vicenza covers about 130 kilometres and the best time to do it is between May and September. Starting from Vicenza, the city of Palladio, with the stunning Palladian villas which are UNESCO world heritage sites. Along the SP248 you reach the charming Marostica, a walled city known throughout the world for its game of human chess which is held in the town square, every even year.
Back on our bikes, we proceed towards the Plateau of the Seven Communities: starting to climb towards the mountain, through the resorts of Crosara di Marostica and Turcio, we arrive in Asiago. Here, we shall stop for a visit to the Observatory of Pennar, a place dedicated to astronomic and astrophysical research, founded and managed by the University of Padova.
Once we are back on the road, we proceed along the SP76, climbing up towards the centres of Gallio, Foza and Enego. After many twists and bends across the Valsugana we will join onto the SS47, descending towards the beautiful and historic Bassano del Grappa, our destination point, not before however, stopping in Romano d'Ezzelino for a visit to the Automobile Museum 'Bonfanti-Vimar'', with its fine display of vintage cars.
Useful advice: Depending on the time available, it is worth visiting the lower Marostica Castle, just opposite Piazza degli Scacchi.
