The three waters' route
Vallevecchia
For those who are not yet familiar with it, Vallevecchia is an area of extraordinary natural and environmental value, one of the largest coastal dune systems in the Veneto region and the last stretch of undeveloped coastline on the northern Adriatic. The island covers approximately 900 hectares, more than half of which are used for experimental and low environmental impact production. Approximately 150 hectares consist of sandy beaches, lowland woods, coastal pine forests and newly formed wetlands.
Valgrande
In Bibione, there are natural areas with a high degree of biodiversity, such as Valgrande, a fishing valley considered an area of regional landscape conservation. Although privately owned, for some years Valgrande has welcomed visitors by offering eco-friendly excursions, protecting the environment and its natural balance.
Molinetto della Croda
Molinetto della Croda is a historical water mill from the sixteen century situated in the Lierza Valley, in the town of Refrontolo in the Treviso province. It is a typical example of rural architecture with original foundations which are set into the rocky face of the mountain - the Croda. Over time the water mill has undergone a number of extensions, to then include also the houses of the families of mill workers. Used until 1953, the mill was then abandoned until work began to restore it, renovating the structure and functioning of the old mill.
Sbarai Oasis
Sbarai Oasis stretches over 30 acres on the shores of Lake Santa Croce, in the Belluno region. It is an extensive wet area featuring a number of different environments related to variations in the lake's water level. It is an ideal habitat for the wintering of many species of birds like Grebes, Lapwings, Penduline tits, Grey Herons, and white Storks. The oasis is reached via an easy flat trail, along which you can admire splendid specimens of monumentally large white willows. The two rural villages next-door, Bastia and Sitran, are worth a look.
