Villa Wollemborg

Sottotitolo
The villa takes its name from the famous owner who purchased it as his residence at the end of the nineteenth century. Nowadays, one can see its full nineteenth-century splendour, which incorporates a more intimate Renaissance core. The villa is set within ample grounds laid out by Giuseppe Jappelli.

Descrizione formattata

The villa was built in the first half of the fifteenth century by the Polcastro family and later modified between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries on the occasion of the marriage between Girolamo Polcastro and Caterina Querini Stampalia. It is precisely during this renovation that the residence took on the appearance it still retains: a beautiful classical-style palace in the western part, with a wide southern façade facing the Italian garden and the seventeenth-century wing attached to the new building..
The villa passed, after some tumultuous testamentary events, to the Querini Stampalia Foundation of Venice, which ceded it to the Wollemborgs in 1870; just a century later, in 1970, it was purchased by the Gomiero family, who still owns it today.
The villa is surrounded by a large park designed at the beginning of the nineteenth century by the architect Giuseppe Jappelli (author of the Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua), according to contemporary romantic principles. An ideal place for a stroll after lunch or dinner, or simply for a relaxing visit immersed in nature.
The villa can also host private events and is an ideal venue for meetings and conferences.
