Rifugio Campogrosso is a mountain hut at 1457 mt in Recoaro Terme (Vicenza). It is located in the heart of the Italian Little Dolomites (‘Piccole Dolomiti’) and it is surrounded by the Carega and the Sengio Alto mountain groups.
Campogrosso is a European Site of Community Importance (SCI), defined as a site which, in the biogeographical region or regions to which it belongs, contributes significantly to the maintenance or restoration at a favourable conservation status of a natural habitat type. Furthermore is has been named a Special Protection Area (SPA), a designation under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds, and it is part of Natura 2000, a network of core breeding and resting sites for rare and threatened species, and some rare natural habitat types which are protected in their own right.
