Do you want to spend half a day protected by the shade of woodland packed with oak, chestnut and manna ash trees? Follow this easy and relaxing route through the gentle landscape of the Euganean Hills. The route leading to Monte Ricco is circular, marked as no. 6, with the starting point behind the railway station of Monselice.
You will follow a very wide forest track that soon leads you to a panoramic terrace dominated by a statue of Hercules holding up the world. And it is from here that one of the most beautiful viewing points overlooking the Euganean Hills opens, from where you can admire Arquà Petrarca, the hills of Battaglia and Galzignano, while on clear days the view stretches as far as the Apennines. The summit of Monte Ricco is nearby: climb the steps leading to the Hermitage of Santa Domenica until you reach a fork in the path. From here, travelling down to the left, you will approach Monte Castello, among the remains of trenches and fortifications from the Second World War; keeping to the right, you stay on the main path that takes you back to Monselice station.
