Museo del Maglio di Breganze

The way of the mills in Lozzo di Cadore
The artificial canal of the mills is located along the rio Rin and until the middle of the twentieth century it was the fulcrum of production of Lozzo di Cadore. Nestled among woods and the peaks of the Dolomites, in the province of Belluno, the town has always been rich in crafts. According to a 1766 document, along the Rin waterway stood ten grain mill wheels, a timber sawmill, a woolen cloth mill, sixteen canvas looms, and five mill stones.

The Cansiglio is a pre-Alpine plateau amid the provinces of Belluno, Treviso and Pordenone. Shaped like a basin, it is a veritable paradise for hiking through its vast forest, which is the second-largest in Italy. But aside from the naturalistic interest afforded here, it is worth visiting this territory to discover an ancient ethnic settlement dating back to the beginning of the 1800s. We are talking about the Cimbri people.

The Valle Imperina Mining Centre, located in the municipality of Rivamonte Agordino (BL), in the heart of the Belluno Dolomites, is an important part of Italy's historical industrial heritage, as a testimony to mining activity that lasted almost six centuries. This site, once a hub for copper mining and processing, has undergone several historical phases, in a shift from pillar of the local mining industry to an almost forgotten area.
