A few kilometres from Padua, the hills play a starring role in the landscape. The Euganean Hills emerge from the valley like frozen waves: gentle shapes, volcanic cones, slopes covered with woods, vineyards and olive trees, creating perfect geometries.
This regional park of over 18,000 hectares, established in 1989 and now part of the UNESCO "Man and the Biosphere" (MAB) Programme, is an intertwining of nature, history and wellness. A unique scenario in the world, which has inspired poets such as Petrarch, Foscolo, d'Annunzio, and Buzzati, and which today wins the heart of those who seek silence, landscapes and freedom.
On the southern side there is Mediterranean scrub, while on the cooler slopes there are chestnut and oak forests, alternating with meadows dotted with rare wild orchids. Everywhere, vines and olive trees form terraces suspended between heaven and earth.
Do you want to walk or pedal? Hundreds of trails are available, also for horse riding. Do you love adrenaline? Rocca Pendice awaits you with its natural rock climbing gym. And if you prefer relaxation, there are the renowned Euganean Baths of Abano, Montegrotto, Galzignano and Battaglia Terme, famous all over the world for their EMAS-certified thermal mud.

The Park includes 15 municipalities, rich in artistic and architectural treasures. Not to be missed: Arquà Petrarca, among the most beautiful villages in Italy, the Venetian villas, the Abbey of Praglia and the Hermitage of Monte Rua. Every corner tells a story. Birdwatching
To get started, all you need is a pair of binoculars and a species identification guide, and voilà: anyone can enjoy birdwatching. This English word, now part of the Italian vocabulary, means observing birds in the wild, in their natural environment. It is a hobby that can be enjoyed in all seasons and everywhere, even in our cities, because all environments are populated by numerous species.
In Veneto, birdwatching enthusiasts will find many areas where they can pursue their passion, in a variety of climates and environments that allow for the observation of over 400 species of birds.
For birdwatchers, the Po Delta is one of the most popular destinations because this protected area has an extraordinary ornithological heritage with almost 400 species of water birds, resident birds, migratory birds and passage birds that can be observed in every corner of the territory.
Following the slow course of the Sile, among reeds and spring waters, you can observe herons, kingfishers and many other species that find in this river one of the richest and most accessible natural environments in the Veneto plain.
A nature reserve located between Caorle and Bibione, at the mouth of the Livenza and Tagliamento rivers. It is a very rich area, an ideal habitat for many species, especially birds, with a population of over 250 species. It is such a corner of paradise that the European Union has recognised it as a Special Protection Area and Site of Community Importance.
This area, protected since 1990, is characterised by a wide variety of flora and fauna. This makes the area particularly interesting for those who want to get closer to nature by practising slow tourism and, above all, birdwatching. Over 115 species of birds find a safe haven in the Park.
Freeriding and ski mountaineering
Ski mountaineering and freeriding in the Veneto unlock access to a simpler and more mindful mountain experience, made up of slow ascents, different courses to choose from and spaces far away from the ski lifts. From the Dolomites to the Prealps, the region offers different activities, panoramas and levels, snow experiences that balance technique with an understanding of the environment and respect for natural conditions.
